Rogue Valley Archers
A little about Rogue Valley Archers
|
The Rogue Valley Archers is a non-profit archery club. Its members are made up of people from all age groups and
walks of life. Our club promotes archery as a wholesome family oriented sport. We currently have 47 member families
on our roster. RVA welcomes both archers and hunters. We welcome all types of bows with the exception of the Cross
Bow. We are affiliated with the Josephine County Sportsman Association (JCSA). We hold our events at the Jo. Co.
Sportsman Park located at: 7407 Highland Ave. Grants Pass, OR. 97526. RVA was granted its charter and non-profit
status on October 1, 2004
We offer six ranges for the pleasure of all archers and working on the seventh. These include four outdoor ranges with
varied terrain to challenge any archer. From range#1, which is a vertically challenging course and a good representation
of the hunting experience, to the opposite end of the spectrum with range #4 which is nearly flat. Ranges #2 and #3 are a
more gradual combination of both extremes. In addition, we have a great “site-in” range and a beautiful indoor range
with a distance of 20 Yards for those months of the year when the weather is inclement.
Each year RVA holds monthly shoots for the membership and also offers three Invitational Events which are open to the
public. In February, we hold the “Foul Weather Event”. In April, we hold the “Spring Fling”, and in June we hold our
“Summer Jam”. These events are usually held on or around the third Sunday of the month. RVA strives to keep our
events affordable for families to enjoy. Most fees are $15.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Children under 18 Years, and FREE for
children under 5 years.
The Invitational Events are our money making events. These funds are used to continually upgrade and improve our
ranges. In addition we invest part of the funds in the replacement of our 3D animal targets. 3D targets are preferred by
most archers, especially the hunters? We work hard to maintain safe and enjoyable ranges for the archer / hunters that
live in our community.
As an organization we have an Executive Board consisting of 11 Officers and two Assistants. We conduct monthly board
meetings at which any and all members are urged to attend. The minutes of each meeting are published in our monthly
newsletter. These newsletters are posted on our website and are also available to be mailed to those members that do
not have the use of a computer.
We are a new club but, we are growing. If you are interested in our club and would like additional information, please

We had a fantastic 3D shoot this past Sunday on Range 4, followed by a
delicious Tri-Tip Steak Bar-B-Q and Pot-Luck Lunch.
During lunch we held a very short business meeting and election of club Exec.
Officers.
I was re-elected as President, David Bartlett-Vice President, Willie Dowdy-
Range Master, Mike House and Forrest Denison- Asst. Range Masters,
Diane Dowdy- Treasurer, Pat Hamilton- Communication / Membership Officer.
Linda Howell -Photographer, Lynn Bartlett- Secretary, Sally Leczel- Historian,
Julius Samuels-Club Director, and Joe Leczel remains the Club Chaplain.
I want to thank all of our directors and the members who ran for office and
supporting our club.
We had our first live auction of 3D targets and I thought it went very well thanks
to Forrest Denison our Auctioneer. He presented the items sooo to get the
highest bid possible. Thanks Forrest!!!!!
A 1977 Ford was voted on for a club truck to haul 3D’s to and from the ranges.
We are looking into a trailer to be used to transport 3D targets. It will be towed
by our new (to us) truck. This trailer may eventually replace the current indoor
storage room, making access to our supplies easier in the future.
During our event we signed up 3 new member families. The Dryden families,
Father and Son and the Todd Churchill family. The Jeff Drydens, enjoyed our
park, 3D shoot and Bar-B-Q so much they returned to the park the following
day.
I would also say I am sorry to the members that could not make it to our August
event, you really missed out… All our members who participated shot and ate
for free….. Good Luck to all the hunters. Be safe and share your pictures and
vitals with us. Please send files to Pat Hamilton so they can be posted on our
website.
